Helpful Reminders
o Garbage cans--Do Not Place in Roadway. Place your garbage can on your side of the ditch and on the right of your driveway (when facing your house). Garbage truck arms can reach the cans and the cans will be clear of passing cars, snow plowing and road work.
o Some Mail Boxes are too close to the roads – mail stops with multiple mailboxes should allow for mail carrier to be able to pull out of the roadway sufficiently for two-way traffic to pass.
o Driveways should be lower than that of the main road to maintain crown on road and facilitate drainage of roadway. Asphalt should not extend more than 2 feet past your property line. Damage to asphalt beyond the 2 feet allowed is not the responsibilty of the District or the Contractor.
o Address Signs should be on the right side of the main driveway, pointing towards the roadway, at your property line and outside any fences for emergency response teams to get to you quickly.
o Newspaper boxes should be back from the road at least as far as the back side of the ditch.
o Driveways per dwelling – no more than 2 allowed by Deschutes County for maximum ditch length for drainage.
